Before I started working with Dr. Hartman, I hadn’t given much thought to my career trajectory. I wasn’t stuck, but I also wasn’t going anywhere. Dr. Hartman helped me identify meaningful goals and practical methods to achieve them so my career could grow, and I could continue developing professionally. I had been in the same field for more than a decade when, shortly after beginning coaching, I found an opportunity in an entirely new industry. Dr. Hartman helped me prepare for the interviews, and I got the job. Once in the new role, I struggled to find my footing in an unfamiliar environment. Dr. Hartman gave me the tools to manage the challenges I was facing and, just as importantly, taught me how to give myself grace in the process. Throughout my life, I’ve experienced self-doubt (imposture syndrome), but Dr. Hartman has an incredible ability not only to build me up, but to help me build myself up so I can be successful both personally and professionally. Since working with him, I’ve received two promotions and successfully transitioned from government to the private sector. Dr. Hartman’s caring personality, deep insight, and compassion make him an exceptional executive coach. He helps you see clearly, uncover your own answers, and grow with confidence.
When I began coaching with Dr. Hartman, I had a couple of major questions on my mind. One was whether I truly wanted or needed to pursue a master’s degree, and the other was what next steps I should take to continue building my career. Through our work together, I experienced a powerful breakthrough—the realization that things will work out for my best interest, and that everything happens in its right timing. That perspective gave me a sense of peace and clarity about my future that I hadn’t felt before. The down-to-earth conversations Dr. Hartman and I shared helped me shift my focus from the challenges I was facing to what I could control and create. Having the freedom to express myself candidly made each session not only productive but also personally meaningful. Now, I have a greater sense of purpose and direction in my career. I feel confident about the path I’m on and the decisions I’m making. I would absolutely encourage anyone considering executive coaching with Dr. Hartman to move forward. He’s a great executive coach who continually uplifts his clients and helps them find clarity, confidence, and balance in both their professional and personal growth.
When I first began working with Dr. Hartman, my biggest challenge was figuring out how to fit in and make an impact on a highly competitive team that I both contributed to and supervised. I found myself second-guessing my abilities (impostor syndrome) as a collaborator and manager, and I wanted to move past that uncertainty to become a confident, integrated, and valued leader. The biggest breakthrough came when Dr. Hartman helped me completely reframe how I saw my role and value to the organization. He helped me connect the dots, which truly was a game-changer. With his support, I became a stronger teammate and a much more effective supervisor, applying practical tools that made an immediate difference. What stood out most was how personal Dr. Hartman’s approach was. He didn’t give canned advice—he took the time to understand my specific challenges and opportunities. His guidance combined both deep experience and solid research, showing genuine care for my growth and success. It’s a night-and-day difference. I now feel confident, capable, and purposeful—an essential part of my team. Dr. Hartman’s insights and tools are ones I’ll carry throughout my career. If you’re looking for an executive coach who truly listens and helps you grow, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Hartman.

I connected with Dr. Hartman through a mid-career leadership program offering Federal Executive Coaching. My biggest challenge was prioritizing projects and tasks, and not thinking ahead: ‘what do I want the outcome to be?’ before jumping in. This was my first coaching experience, and my goal was simply to learn what opportunities I had to advance my career; but the experience turned into so much more. Before we started, I had no idea what coaching entailed or why it was so important for my executive function and professional growth. Having an executive coach to discuss my professional life with, someone who asked the hard questions, helped me see I could advance my career and reminded me that I add value where I am. Dr. Hartman is truly invested in his clients, and that meant so much to me. He helped me think about how to use my team’s time to complete tasks and how I can better protect my time (work in progress). He also helped me see the importance of my personal life — “without your health, you have nothing” — and that helped me stay focused on where to prioritize my time. Now I feel more confident. While working with Dr. Hartman, I reached a professional goal of spending six months working in another office! I realized that everything doesn’t have to be perfect, and neither do I. Dr. Hartman encouraged me to take risks, ask for things at work I might not have asked for before (for example time for conflict-resolution training), and to keep conversations going with higher-ups so current challenges turn into opportunities. If you’re considering working with an executive coach, just do it. Dr. Hartman is a patient and kind soul who genuinely cares about your professional and personal goals, your wellbeing, and your mental health. He will ask you difficult questions and lead you into some soul-searching. It will be uncomfortable, but the growth you experience will absolutely be worth it. If you value both family and a fulfilling career, working with Dr. Hartman is incredible. In addition to advancing my professional goals, he was open to discussing personal relationships and parenting. As a full-time working mom with a research career, he listened and helped me think more about self-care and realize that I need to prioritize myself. I’m still a work in progress, but I’m so much more self-aware about how I spend my time. Melissa. M
